VILLAGE LIVE SO FAR....
Village Live Records was born in 2015 out of a shared passion for music and a desire to create something special. Doug, aka Remulak, was looking for a label to release his first solo 7" but couldn’t find a suitable home. That’s when Joey Deez, a close friend and fellow music enthusiast, casually suggested, “Let’s just start a label ourselves.” And so, Village Live Records was created.
The name Village Live Records was inspired by Joey’s crew of friends from his hometown, who shared a love for skateboarding, graffiti, and music, and were collectively known as “Village Live”. Joey and Remulak quickly established the label as a reputable home for quality records, with a focus on showcasing a diverse range of artists and sounds.
Tragically, Joey Deez passed away unexpectedly in August 2020, leaving behind a devastated community of family, friends, and loved ones. His loss was deeply felt, and he is still greatly missed.
For a long time, Remulak wasn’t sure if he had the heart to continue with the label, as it had been a venture so deeply rooted in his partnership with Joey. But after a period of reflection, he came to realise that the music, the community, and the legacy they had built were too important to let fade away. With a renewed sense of purpose, he decided to carry the label forward - keeping the music and the community alive in Joey’s memory, and honouring the legacy they started together.

RIP JOEY DEEZ Xx
Remulak continued to run Village Live Records solo for the next three years. During this time, the seeds of a new partnership were sown while the label was preparing to release a record by Anteek Recipes, a project in which Matt Davies - aka Mr Dirty Hairy - played an instrumental role as the producer.
As Remulak & Hairy worked together on the release, they discovered a shared passion for music and records that quickly developed into a strong creative synergy. Their conversations about music, art, and culture sparked a deep mutual respect, and soon they began discussing the possibility of joining forces.

This informal brainstorming eventually blossomed into a formal partnership, and in 2023 Hairy officially joined Village Live Records, bringing his eclectic musical tastes and sharp A&R instincts to the label. Wasting no time, he helped expand the roster with fresh talent, adding new energy and direction.
Together, Remulak & Hairy have reignited the spark that Village Live Records was founded on, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.
A huge thanks goes out to every one of you who has supported Village Live Records and continues to do so.
Keep the records spinning.
