Samskara is a deeply rooted concept found across South Asian traditions. In Indian philosophy, samskaras are mental impressions and psychological imprints that shape karma and consciousness. In Buddhism, the Sanskrit term Saṅkhāra refers to mental formations and conditioning.
This unique collection of instrumentals draws from a wide palette of South and Southeast Asian sounds — from traditional Indian music to Bollywood disco, Luk Thung, and Thai funk, all filtered through Mecca:83’s soulful, sample-based lens. The result is a richly textured beat tape inspired by over a decade of digging for obscure funk and groove across India, Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar.
